The Goldpine Post – DECEMBER 2021

This month’s issue of The Goldpine Post focuses on our country’s arable community. This small but mighty sector plays an invaluable role in New Zealand, producing a large portion of the world’s seeds.

We caught up with Arable Farmers, Eric and Maxine Watson, who have been in the arable industry for over 30 years. Based in Wakanui in the Ashburton District, Eric has set two Guinness World Records for the highest wheat yield in 2017 and 2020.

Based in Puketapu in Hawke’s Bay, Fryer Ag Services is run by one-man-band, Matt Fryer, who specialises in maize planting, direct drilling and other operational services. Matt talks about how checking in with his clients is a big focus of his work, along with managing his heavy workload.

For our fencing tip this month, Luke Jacobsen of Golden Bay Fencing shows us how to do in-line wire straining.

Our State of the Industry article is on arable farming where we showcase the economic standpoint of cropping in New Zealand and share experiences from those working within the sector.

We also share an article on understanding wood shortages, in which Goldpine has a wide range of products to help combat this and can cater to your desired project.

All this and more inside.
