The Goldpine Post – SEPTEMBER 2021

This month’s theme for The Goldpine Post is on deer farming in New Zealand. We visited Ian Scott at Oraka Farms based in Okoroire, South Waikato. As a deer and dairy farmer, Ian also works as a large animal vet with an interest in maize cropping. He views farming through a science-based approach expressing how New Zealand farmers are incredibly efficient at what they do.

We take you through our State of the Industry piece that showcases information on deer farming in New Zealand and spoke to farmers and associations within the deer community that were able to highlight their experiences at the current moment.

Along with deer, we have three outstanding features; tree planting, food production and connecting people back to the land with Mangarara Station, sustainable seaweed products with AgriSea, and great outdoor adventures for children to learn and grow at Rotoiti Lodge Outdoor Education Centre.

Our fencing tip for the month is shown by Luke Hartnell of Hartnell Fencing based in the Waikato. Luke takes us through steps on how to join two hot wires together on a fence line.

We also introduce you to our new GOFENCE® RAPTOR® Driver Tool for quick and easy installations and removals of gate gudgeons and provide an in-depth look at using wood to create a sustainable future.
