James Ewing: James Ewing Fencing, Canterbury

See James Ewing's Tip

We caught up recently with James Ewing who was working on an 11-kilometre two and three wire fencing project, just ten minutes outside of Pleasant Point in the beautiful Canterbury region. The property was a dairy run-off block where the farmer had grass and crops ready to utilise, so James and his team of four got stuck into it – taking around five weeks to complete.

The project also included the use of GOFENCE® ENDURANCE® Wood Post Insulators, which James said made the job so much easier. “We got sent a test box of the insulators – they were very solid and good value for money. We’re using 2,000 insulators on this job and we’re installing them with staple guns which saves the workers’ arms by not having to do it by hand. It makes for a faster job,” he said.

James is a firm believer in making sure his customers are getting the best value for their job, and helps to save the farmer money by securing good deals on gear, and producing tidy and efficient fencing work. Whenever we visit, James always commends his team for the work that they do, ensuring that it’s not just about him but a collective effort.

With 15 years of fencing under his belt, James loves the nature of the job and the different challenges that it brings. He loves being able to problem solve and work things out as he goes along. Whether he is installing netting or wire fencing, James uses the same measurement that works for all types of fences that he installs. This helps his staff to only measure once, making it easier for everyone.

James recently purchased one of Goldpine’s Ned's Sheds® – featuring 3 bays. He and his team are currently in the process of installing a shed which will be used to park a tractor and accommodate dog trials. Along with various fencing jobs, James and his team also have three shed builds lined up for clients. The mentality of doing anything you set your mind to resonates well with the workers of James Ewing Fencing as they showcase a willingness to carry out a diverse range of jobs. We cannot wait to see the final shed builds over the coming months. Cheers, James!
