The Post May 2025
Move over cows and sheep – our May issue is all about the other animals that make rural life rich, rewarding, and a little rowdy. From free-range pigs to hard-working farm dogs, we’re looking at everything from hooves to claws.
First, we trot over to Highgrounds Farm, where pigs rule the pasture and free-range philosophy meets sustainable farming. These pigs live the good life, and we find out how Hamish Cottle and his family make it happen.
We switch gears (and dig a trench) with fencer Bryan Batt of B.B. Contract Fencing, who shows us how he installs an undergate cable with a trencher.
Next, we sit and stay awhile with Jack and Anne Clifford at Ringway Kennels, long-standing breeders and trainers of working farm dogs. They show us how they get these four-legged farmhands to be fast, smart, and always ready to do the job.
Finally, we discuss the state of the industry for goats, chickens, and pigs – what’s been happening, what’s changing, and what the future might hold.
Join us in reading about fur, feathers and more in our Other Animals edition this May.
We intend to continue supplying you with the best stories, activities and techniques in agriculture. If you have anything that you would like us to share, please get in touch.
